Àirdan

Àirdan are an exciting trad band born from the pubs of Edinburgh. Their high energy grooves and dynamic arrangements see melodies and riffs juggled between fiddle (Paul Sinclair), accordion (Coll Williamson), guitar (David Lennon) and drums (Ewa Adamiec). A small madhouse of cultures and influences, this multinational group of musicians first met in 2017 through their shared thirst for Scottish trad music, and have now joined forces to captivate listeners with their fresh and exciting take on their unique musical heritage.

Formed in 2021, the band have already performed at events and festivals in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Finland, and were chosen as a "Highly Recommended" act at the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections 2022.

FRIDAY MAY 10TH 10 -11PM

YOKO PWNO

Yoko Pwno create a storm on the dancefloor with their accessible and irreverant take on the music of Scotland. With band members based in Scotland’s capital Edinburgh, and the seaside town of Dunbar, their music is a high-energy fusion of Celtic and electronic styles.

Madcap eclecticism, showstopping vocals, big basslines and solid grooves, all mashed up in a vibrant, high energy live show which takes their tunes far from tartan-shortbread-tin territory.

Highlights from the past 2 years include the release of 2nd album ‘Part Machine’, opening for Hot Chip at Glasgow's Junction 1, a rammed 10th anniversary gig at Edinburgh’s prestigious Liquid Rooms in April 2023 and festival sets the length and breadth of the UK.

“Yoko Pwno are doing something really fascinating and enjoyable. Entwined into the traditions of Scottish folk music, are the synths and percussion that bring Scottish folk-music to a new route. To repeat …. if you have any interest in the lineage of folk music give this listen.”
